Label Spotlight: Ultra Records (USA)
Ultra Records is an American independent electronic dance music record label. Ultra was formed in New York City in 1995 by former Polygram and Virgin Records executive Patrick Moxey, who is still the owner. Ultra’s current roster includes American artists Markus Schulz, Steve Smooth, Kaskade, Sharam, Cedric Gervais, and international artists Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Above & Beyond, Benny Benassi, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Fedde le Grand and many others.
At the 24th Annual Winter Music Conference’s IDMA in 2009, Ultra Records won the award for ‘Best American Dance Label’ for the fourth year in a row. The label also received the award for Billboard Dance Airplay Label of the year for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Ultra Records is the A&R behind the GRAMMY award-winning Public Enemy remix project, which earned one of Ultra Records’ artists, Benny Benassi, a GRAMMY for Best Non-Classical Remixed Recording.
Ultra Records, the most successful independent dance label in North America (and perhaps internationally as well) has now expanded their services of priority single releases to zipDJ.
